India and Japan plan on strengthening relationships, arrange a plan for a telephone talk, and future visits

Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi agreed to hold a telephone talk with Indian Foreign Minister Jai Shankar on the 22nd and to make adjustments for Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's visit to India at the "appropriate timing." 2018 is the last mutual visit between the leaders of Japan and India. He also agreed to hold an early meeting of ministers in charge of foreign affairs and defense (2 plus 2).

The two foreign ministers also shared a strong opposition to China's unilateral attempts to change the status quo and economic intimidation in the East and South China Seas. We confirmed the cooperation of four countries (quads) including the United States and Australia in order to realize a "free and open Indo-Pacific". They also agreed to promote cooperation in the security field such as cyber, space, and economic security.
