Urusei Yatsura: Only You (1983) - good silly fun

Urusei Yatsura: Only You (1983) was the first feature-length anime based on Mamoru Oshii's series of the same name. While the director himself was disappointed with the result, it's still a very funny and very entertaining piece of classic anime. When teenaged Ataru discovers he had become engaged during his childhood to a beautiful alien named Elle and that she has now returned to claim him as her betrothen, he leaps at the opportunity to marry a hot babe from space. This sends the blue-haired alien he's currently with, Lum, into a spiral of despair.

Lum's father sends his army after Elle's to prevent her from seizing his future son-in-law. In one of the film's funniest scenes, Ataru (who not so secretly wants to split for Elle) argues he should nobly sacrifice himself to prevent this war. Their conversation is hilariously intercut with soldiers rallying for the battle ahead, speaking of their own duty, honor, and love for one another in a ridiculous echo of Ataru and Lum's dialogue. Very highly recommended for some good silly fun.
